Sameen is an educator. As a child, her grandfather inspired a love for teaching and writing. She also enjoys cooking and kicking – great food and martial arts are her long-time passions. Her piece, “Say Goodbye”, can be found in EPOCH Issue 01: Beginnings, available to purchase here.
Where do you find inspiration?
I find a lot of inspiration in the conversations I have with my family and friends. I have lively, open-minded, wonderful people in my life and when we all come together we talk about all kinds of different topics and issues.
Why do you write/create Creative Non-Fiction?
It is cathartic. When you begin with an authentic experience I think it lends to a potentially interesting and deep, opportunity for dialogue with the reader.
What are you reading now?
I am in an awesome book club with my friends and we all take turns choosing the book of the month. This month’s choice is The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd. I am also reading Atomic Habits by James Clear.
Where can we follow you and find your work?
I have been doing a lot of experimenting in the kitchen lately (I love food!) and I’ve had so much fun exploring that I started a blog. It is a space where I post my musings and reflections on various projects in the kitchen. Along with that, I have an Instagram page with my husband that is also dedicated to food adventures.
